“SALVATION ISN'T CHEAP, BUT IT'S FREE!”

At first a seeming contradiction, the awesome truth behind the lyric from Eyesalve’s single, “No Compromise,” shapes the bedrock on which the band exists.

Bold and uncompromising, Eyesalve’s lyrics cut through searing guitars and thundering drums straight to the heart of the matter. With pure conviction they deliver the good news of the good book. Repentance. Forgiveness. Pursuit of Holiness. Terms such as these whose TRUE meanings have been increasingly glossed over in society (and even the church) form the new vision which Eyesalve prays and endeavors to unveil.

Hailing from Rochester, NY, Eyesalve is : Bryan P. Price (vocals/guitars); John Whiting (bass); Chris Gugliuzza (lead guitar); Chris Wildrick (drums/vocals).

The group initiates an immediate rush of adrenaline with an intense and dynamic live show, and an unrelenting urgency in their message. From a distant military cadence to an all-out tribal assault, Wildrick’s power-drumming influences and training propel the band through the peaks and valleys of their songscapes. Cementing the bricks in the foundation are Whiting’s bass parts, weaving deftly through the drum parts and exploring melodic/ harmonic counterpoints to Price’s lyrical melodies. Gugliuzza’s guitar work, which pivots on a dime from subdued and supportive to driving and incendiary, draws immediate reference to some of the greatest fretboard luminaries of the last 15 years while still retaining a sense of individual identity.

At the center of it all is Price. Founder and primary songwriter of the band, he gives voice to the message of truth and redemption that the band so urgently wants to spread. Whether in a mellow exhortative tenor or a visceral screaming from the rooftop, Price delivers the clarion call of awakening while executing crunchy rhythm guitar riffs that serves as the framework of the band’s progressions.

While some listeners have drawn parallels to a broad spectrum of bands (Live, Nickelback, Living Colour, Pillar), what the big picture of Eyesalve provides is a glimpse of something fresh and original.

The word “eyesalve” - a reference from the book of Revelation - simply denotes a healing eye wash, but it’s the implication of the new vision that follows which speaks volumes. In a society permeated with a self-help/feel good/“it’s not my fault” ethos, Eyesalve revels in spiritual truth. “Salvation isn’t cheap, but it’s free,” INDEED!!!
